Yoga is a methodology for developing a personal practice using asana (poses), pranayama (breath)
and meditation for protecting and maintaining your health, promoting your ability to be protective
in the world and inspiring the deeper quest for self-realization.
In classes taught Svaroopa style the poses are deceptively easy but create deep and profound
changes in body and mind. The ancient hatha yoga poses are approached in a compassionate way
using precise alignments to open up the deepest tensions of your body—the muscles attached to
the spine.
When you open the spine everything opens up. Your internal organs are no longer compressed
thereby functioning at a more optimum level. Your nervous system, immune system, respiration
and circulation all improve. Physical aches and pains go away. You feel younger and have more
vitality. Your mind becomes peaceful and calm.
The use of props allows for the student to be fully supported so that the release can happen
more readily. Classes are for all ages and fitness levels, whether you are a beginner or a seasoned
yogi. Many seniors and beginners will be able to experience the poses with ease while more
advanced students find it deepens their existing practice taking them to the next level.
